Ski Train to Winter Park
We took a ride on the Ski Train from Denver to Winter Park this past Saturday. This is an easy, no-driving, and no-hassle way to get to the slopes! And the train, which is 1/4 mile long, was full! Interesting tidbit we learned is that the Winter Park Resort is owned by the City of Denver, hence it has become the winter and summer playland for most Denverites. Attached are some photos of the 56 mile train trip there which took us through several tunnels including the longest on the Continental US, the Moffat Tunnel. Since we don't ski, we took the warm and cozy Snowcat on a 2 hr. tour up to the top of the mountain. The photo of the Snowcat was taken in front of the Sunspot Lodge, an R & R place at the top of the mountain. It was a very busy day since it is the beginning of Spring Break for Colorado schools. The Jr. Olympics was holding trials on one of the moderate slopes near the base and we included one of those photos. We had many more photos so when you come visit, we'll show you the rest of them. Alas, the train stops running April 13 and doesn't travel again until June, and Winter Park closes for skiing on April 13th as well. Enjoy the photos and let us hear from you!
